Instructor Lifeguard CPR First Aid
Co-owner of Cowabunga Surf and Sport with parents Melissa & Tom, Brett has been associated with Cowabunga for over seven years, managing the boards, providing expert lessons, and efficiently running summer camp. With over 16 years of teaching experience on the Treasure Coast, Brett has taught more than 8,000 successful lessons to a broad variety of students ranging in age from 3 to 82! Using his own simplified teaching method and his understanding of technique, Brett is able to train and coach all levels of surfer from beginner to advanced. He also holds current Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications.
Originator, designer, and Managing Director of Cowabunga Surf and Water Sports Camp, Brett has a deep passion for surfing and for inspiring children and youth to build their character and their confidence in and out of the water. Brett has led and mentored children and youth for well over a decade. He served as a summer camp counselor at Kanakuk Kamps in Branson, Mo. for five consecutive years, worked full time for Boosterthon Fun Run for four seasons, and has served, and continues to serve, as a youth leader at local churches.
Born and raised within five minutes of the Atlantic shore, Brett also enjoys boating, fishing, wake boarding, kite boarding, and just about every other water-related sport.
Instructor CPR First Aid
A Jensen Beach native, Angelo graduated last year from Martin High School where he played varsity Football and baseball. He now attends IRSC, where he plans to major in law or science. A very patient leader, he is Vice President of Best Buddies, a club devoted to spending time with and helping special needs students. He enjoys working with kids, has helped coach summer youth baseball camps, and was a key counselor this past summer helping Cowabunga campers enjoy the ocean!
Angelo enjoys studying law, finding it fun and challenging, and plans to attend law school after college. He loves playing the guitar, the beach, country music, and his Doberman, Zeus. His favorite food is sushi, served at his favorite restaurant, Sushi Yama.
Instructor CPR First Aid
Born in Pennsylvania and raised in Florida, Theona has lived on the Treasure Coast for over fifteen years. Spending most days on the water throughout her childhood has instilled a strong love for the ocean and an even stronger love for surfing. Initially inspired to begin the sport by Brett Jenkins, owner/operator of Cowabunga Surf and Sport, Theona has surfed for six years and been an instructor for over four. Sharing her love and prowess of the sport with others is a lifetime goal. She also is passionate about finding new surf destinations around the world, having travelled to beaches in Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, and Indonesia.
Theona is a student at IRSC majoring in Business Administration. As young entrepreneur, she operates her own house cleaning business, diligently working and building her clientele. She also finds great importance in health and fitness visiting the gym daily for weight lifting and resistance training.
